Thus, we are not having monthly meetings at this time. We hope to hold monthly meetings in the future. We began the protest in March 2025 and it has been carried on weekly for over one year. We provide huge, highly visible banners. Please join us. NOV 26 MEETING: DOCUMENTARY "BETWEEN THE RAINS"



--Nov. 26, 2024, 6pm, meeting of Waco Friends of the Climate.
--Venue: the large meeting room of the Waco Central Library, 1717 Austin Ave., Waco. Meeting is held in the large meeting room on the ground floor.
--6pm: business meeting, including review of recent actions, discussion of upcoming campaigns, volunteer options, response to the tragic Presidential election, possible Styrofoam recycling event.
--6:30pm: documentary "Between the Rains." This is an incredible and beautiful film, which enlightens about the climate crisis through a moving story of people impacted, rather than through a didactic approach. During a period of drought in northern Kenya, the Turkana tribe faces growing violent clashes with rival tribes and encroaching wild predators hunting their livestock. Kolei, a sensitive shepherd boy, questions his path as a warrior, and also the erosion of the culture that has shaped every aspect of his life. The climate crisis threatens the survival of the Turkana tribe. Run time 82min, 2023.
--The documentary has been featured in multiple festivals and received multiple awards, 17 total. Awards include: Tribeca Film Festival Best Documentary, Zurich Film Festival Official Selection, Seattle International Film Festival Official Selection, Human Rights Film Festival Berlin Official Selection.
