EARTH DAY: FOC Distribution of Complimentary Carbon Sinks at Waco Farmers Market , April 20, 2024

EARTH DAY Carbon Sink (Seedling) Distribution at Waco Farmers Market, Sat, April 20, 9am until 1pm, hosted by Waco Friends of the Climate:
--400 total complimentary seedlings available to distribute were Red Mulberry, Red Oak, and Loblolly Pine.
--WHY?: because in this Earth Day season, the CLIMATE CRISIS is mankind's greatest challenge, and organized civilization as we know it is at stake. Carbon sinks are one of 100s of solutions .
--Although weather was horrible--cold, windy, rainy--we still gave away about 150 seedlings.
--The Red Mulberry were especially popular, as everyone is interested in the edible fruit.
--Importance of growing trees: contribution to the world's natural carbon sinks, help clean the air of impurities, provide shade, lessen soil erosion, and provide relaxing areas for humans and animals. Provide spots for those who engage in "tree swimming."
--Seedlings distributed with planting instructions and climate crisis information card from FOC.
--Deepest thanks to our volunteers who braved the worst conditions I have seen during our biannual distributions: Mike Tobias, Rick Allen, Julia Kisacky, Alan Northcutt, April Strickland & daughter, Monty Suffern, Irma Zapata, James Gatewood.
--We will distribute remaining Red Mulberry seedlings at the Bridge Street Market, Wed. April 24, 5pm-8pm. Please arrive early, as first come-first served.
