Waco Friends of the Climate November Meeting

Waco Friends of the Climate will hold its November business meeting and film on Tuesday, November 22, at the South Waco Library (2737 S. 18th St) large meeting room. Business starts at 6:00 pm and the film Waco starts around 6:30pm.

"Under Poisoned Skies" is a powerful documentary, illustrating the extensive fossil fuel flaring in Iraq, the hazardous emissions of this process, and the tragedy of increased childhood leukemias. Images of children impacted by these cancers and their parents are very moving. The lack of concern in the Iraq Oil Ministry and the fossil fuel corporations is horrible. The film's relevance is magnified by recent flaring in Waco.
Flaring is relevant to the climate crisis. Burning of the methane results in carbon dioxide, which has lower global warming potential. However, some of the methane in flaring is not combusted, increasing the global warming impact of these structures.

Alan Northcutt will have just returned from COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh and will have some early observations to discuss.

Business meeting includes review of most recent events, and plans for future campaigns.

Non-alcoholic beverages and vegan refreshments will be provided.

Everyone is welcome and the meeting is FREE.
