Waco Friends of the Climate in the 2021 Juneteenth Family Parade

Our goal is to promote the rapid transition of our transportation system to electric vehicles. Why is this important? In a 2021 report, the IEA determined that to reach net zero emissions by 2050, 60% of new cars sold must be EVs by 2030. We wish to demonstrate that one can drive a fully electric vehicle NOW, as they have no GHG emissions, no dangerous tailpipe pollution, no noise pollution, and EVs are fun to drive with awesome acceleration.  For progressives, we believe we have a responsibility to drive an EV ASAP, and set an example for other drivers. The adoption of EVs is relevant to climate justice and this parade, since people of color are impacted earliest and most severely by the climate crisis.

Many thanks to Harrison Ward (Bolt) Travis Ward (Bolt), Casey Hale (Kia Soul EV), Ana Ria/Kandi (Bolt), Alan (Model 3) and Adrian Northcutt for participating in this event, and helping to spread the word about electric vehicles.
