Free Shopping Bag Distribution At Farmers Market

Waco Friends of the Climate 7th Annual ReusableShopping Bag Distribution at the Waco Downtown Farmer's Market took place August 15.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was delayed several months past Earth Day.

Relevance to the climate: it is projected that by 2050, 20% of climate pollution will derive from plastic production. As less fossil fuel is burned, the fossil fuel industry is pushing for ever greater volume of plastic manufacture.

We distributed approximately 300 FREE reusable shopping bags, which contained business cards with our organization's information and 15 steps for individuals to combat the climate crisis.

Deepest thanks to our volunteers, who worked in approximately 110°F heat index conditions: Kandy (Ana), Harrison, Suzi, and Monty. The day was very successful, and those who expressed climate denialism were rare this year.
