1) Beginning Jan. 2025, our focus has been on resistance to Donald Trump, since his policies are our greatest threat to the climate. Thus, we are not having monthly meetings at this time. We hope to hold monthly meetings in the future. Visit our Facebook group for current activities, Waco Friends of the Climate. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1330231820335851
2) Our role in the resistance includes a weekly protest at the pedestrian bridge in Waco, Valley Mills Dr. & Bagby Avenue, each Sunday, 1:00pm-2:30pm. We began the protest in March 2025 and it has been carried on weekly for over one year. We provide huge, highly visible banners. Please join us. RESISTING FASCISM, ONE SUNDAY AT A TIME.

Presentation To The City of Waco Sustainable Resource Practices Advisory Board Dec. 5th
Location:
Waco City Hall, 3rd floor meeting room
Date & Time: Wednesday, December 5th, 3:45 PM
The
City of Waco Sustainable Resource Practices Advisory Board
will accept comment & will “act on an introductory letter & a formal
resolution for 100% renewable energy in Waco
by 2050." The science & the recent
climate change impacts clearly support our proposal.
We
need EVERYONE who is free to be in attendance to emphasize public support. This
is CRUCIAL. Please wear green FOP/C Tshirt or other light green shirt. The resolution was
prepared by Alan Northcutt, MD & Board member Sarah Brockhaus. (Many thanks
to Sarah).
The
resolution calls for formation of a new board to work on renewables transition
& decarbonization. Our resolution focuses on conservation, energy
transition to renewables & transition to EVs in city fleets of cars,
trucks, & buses.
This
Board meeting represents culmination of 1.5 years of work on the Go Renewable Waco
campaign. Thanks to our members for all their tremendous work.
Dinner will be provided at
a local restaurant by Waco FOP/C following board meeting.
