Climate Change Art Show Is Up And Running!

















The second year of the Waco Friends of Peace/Climate FREE art show is dedicated to informing visitors about anthropogenic climate change & inspiring them to action.  The science is clear that climate change is an existential threat and mankind’s greatest challenge.

Show dates: August 29 - September 29

Hours:     Tue-Thur 2:00-10:00
                Fri-Sat 12:00-12:00
                Sun 2:00-8:00
                Mon closed.

Admission: FREE.

The reception will be on September 15, 6-8 pm, with art viewing/voting, live music by Katie Stewart, awards presentation, science, complimentary wine & snacks, and door prizes.

The show will exhibit about 65 pieces, including oils, acrylics, charcoal, photography, sculpture, digital, mixed media, & furniture. The works vary from dazzling to moving to captivating to horrifying.

The artists participating in this growing event include some of Waco’s top professionals, amateurs, students & pre-school children. Climate change affects everyone on the planet, and we are grateful for the participation of all our artists. 

Brief scientific explanations will accompany some pieces.

Climate change documentaries with subtitles will be continuously screened.

Complimentary climate change action handouts will be provided.

The beautiful venue offers wine, sangria, soft drinks & trays of cheese/meat/crackers.  Food may be ordered from 3 nearby restaurants, with free delivery. The charming patio offers views of downtown and live music.

Art will be judged with the criteria of relevance to the theme & aesthetic excellence.
   1st place: $1000
   2nd place: $600
   3rd place: $400
   The People’s Choice Award: $400.  All visitors to the exhibit are encouraged to vote for their  favorite. Eligible art is numbered.
